SNW Storspeed Meeting Update
Storspeed is the third company we spoke to in the Dynamic Tiering market and takes a different approach than the other two. We've completed a detailed briefing report on their solution here.
The Storspeed SP5000 is a non-disruptive, no change required insertion into the existing environment, essentially providing a high speed cache to the NAS infrastructure, it does not seek to store data for any longer than it is being accessed. One of the more unique components of the Storspeed solution is the value of its management GUI.

The detailed packet inspection that Storspeed performs allows the system to provide a very detailed and visual representation of what data is in cache, what data should be in cache and how the Storspeed system is enhancing performance.
The SP5000 can be configured to cache in an automatic fashion or you can select which specific applications can go into cache. Dealing with performance at an application layer may be the most intuitive way to interact with these dynamic tiering systems.
